Originally from Falls Church, Virginia, Joseph Dubas graduated from Northwestern University in 2016 and is in his second year with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. While at Northwestern, he was the recipient of the Frank Crisafulli Scholarship. He has been a fellow at the Alessi Seminar and the Music Academy of the West, and has performed as a substitute in the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. In 2013, he was a finalist in the International Trombone Association Gagliardi solo competition.
Joseph’s primary teachers have included Michael Mulcahy, Timothy Higgins, Doug Wright, Randall Hawes, Chris Davis, Peter Ellefson, and Barry Hearn.
Outside of music, Joe enjoys playing and watching sports, reading, and enjoying good food.
