The first 20 days: A pictorial essay

The first 20 days of the 2017/18 Civic Fellowship has seen lots of good music and camaraderie. The articles and reviews will start next week, but in the meantime, here are some pictures from the first 20 days of the fellowship.

The fellows orientation week concluded with an outing to Guaranteed Rate Field to see the hometown White Sox take on the San Francisco Giants. #FreeHatNight
On September 12 the Civic Fellows boarded the Island Party Boat to serenade audiences along the Chicago Riverwalk as part of the city’s summer-long Second Tuesday celebration. The evening concluded with a concert at the Riverwalk Theater and a pyrotechnics display.  In addition to performing selections from Beethoven’s Fifth and Sixth Symphonies and Rossini’s La Gazza Ladra Overture, the fellows paid tribute to the iconic Chicago River with a custom arrangement of Smetana’s The Moldau, a piece meant to evoke the flowing of the German Moldau River from its source in the mountains of the Bohemian Forest through the Czech countryside, to the city of Prague. Thanks to everyone who came out to listen!
Last week the Civic Orchestra welcomed its 99th class of musicians to Symphony Center. The members attended an orientation followed by a reception at the Columbia Yacht Club, hosted by CSO Trustee Liisa Thomas.
